The Bodrum Peninsula is lovely and there are plenty of places to see around there, the beaches are nice, although I do believe the beaches are nicer in the Antalya area. You will certainly find British tourists in Bitez but they are generally the well behaved kind rather than the ones who give our nation such a bad name! Antalya is a nice place to visit for the nearby scuba diving and snorkeling. However, Istanbul is not a scuba or snorkeling destination. Antalya has a few areas where visitors often go scuba diving or snorkeling. Outside of town, in the region of Antalya, you'll find some of the best snorkeling and scuba diving in Turkey.
